Intermission, a series of images created during the Covid-19 pandemic, focuses on environmental protection and the potential revitalization of nature when human intrusion is halted. The pandemic led to a significant pause in activities such as combustion, construction, mining, agriculture, and warfare. As a result, environmental benefits quickly became apparent. Air quality improved due to reduced human movement, but it also highlighted the need for the environment to be shielded from our reliance on fossil fuels. The sudden reduction in industrial pollutants and freshwater use for waste disposal allowed the environment to thrive. Each image in this series highlights the threat pollution poses to our natural world and, ultimately, to the human population. There is now an awareness of the consequence of climate change which finally addresses what is ordinary and how it is time to collectively change our perspective.
