About Maria Coletsis
Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Maria received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Vancouver’s Emily Carr University of Art and Design and soon after attended the San Francisco Art Institute, where she received her Masters Degree of Fine Arts in Photography. Maria spent time living in London, UK exhibiting her artwork and working as a free-lance photographer for many diverse magazines.
Maria Coletsis works with issues concerned with identity, sexuality and the environment. Primarily using photography, Maria is an artist who incorporates into her diverse works: painting, digital media and computer installations. She continues to investigate and photograph subculture subject matter and has introduced elements from nature to explore our human nature.

Currently Maria’s latest body of work, Seamless, was selected for the LA Billboard Art Exhibition 2025, chosen for this year's RBSA Photography Prize in Birmingham and participated in group exhibitions in NY, CA and the BW Athens Photography festival. Selected artist for the Richmond Public Art Program 2024/2025 with her series: Drift WoodScapes at Aberdeen Station Richmond BC. Maria was invited to contribute 20 pages of images for LandEscape Magazine and invited to be a speaker for the Reviving Waters Webinar. Her series Intermission has been reviewed internationally and has been included in over 20 group exhibitions from Budapest, Barcelona, Athens and London. Recently awarded the Elena Curris Silver Purchase Award, Selected for Richmond's Public Art Wraps program and Featured artist for the London Underground Art Innovations project at Great Portland St Station. Her photographs have been included in the East London Photography Festival, chosen by the curator of the Whitney Museum for the Viridian Gallery Awards in New York and a Solo art exhibition and Book launch at the De Luca Gallery in Toronto for her published photography book, Behind the Whip: Dominatrix.
